Kicking It Into High Gear….With Some Fun!
This week, my students seemed to truly enjoy reviewing and sharing strategies with each other! We started off by creating a strategy “review” brainstorm together as a class. Next the students worked in groups on a collaborative activity. The students each received a colored piece on paper that they carefully cut into strips. Then they created groups of four with other students that had different colored paper and traded strips. Next, they discussed the brainstormed strategies and decided which where the most powerful (These are the ones they wrote on their strips). The strips were then glue together (paper chain style).
After students had finished their paper chains, they began to work on “personalizing” their strategies. Each student used the letters of their name, and created a strategy filled acrostic. They had so much fun listening to each other’s ideas and helping each other out! There excitement was contagious!
I have included links to both of the documents that we used.

One Teacher's Take
I may be clicking on the wrong link, but I can't seem to find the Name Acrostic file.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!

I reloaded the google docs link for the Name Acrostic file. Give it a try! If it still doesn't work, email me at patsykitty@gmail.com and I will email it directly to you.
DeleteThanks so much!
ReplyDeleteNo problem, sorry for the delay...I hope you got a chance to enter the give away on my "Celebration" post.
DeleteThis will sound dumb, but how did you adapt the sheets for different length names?
ReplyDeleteNot dumb at all, I have the luxury of a personal copier in my classroom, so I did some actual cutting, taping and copying to create the pages you see in the pictures. If you give me a little bit, I will make a similar set of pages and get them posted to google docs for you....
DeleteHere is the google link for the framed pages for the name acrostics...

I can't click on the link.WIll you try reposting? I also was trying to figure out how to adapt it to different name lengths.
ReplyDeleteI just tried the links and they took me to the shared google docs...You must click on the words. The first google link has the acrostic letters and example and the second has the frames for the different length names (from 2 letters to 8). Try again (clicking on the colored links within the post itself) and see if it works.
DeleteLove this idea! So cute!
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic! I will use this next week before our science test Thursday! :)
